
Khilji Dynasty (1290 – 1320 AD)
- The Khilji dynasty was a Turco-Afghan dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1290 to 1320
- The Khilji Dynasty was established by Jalal-ud-din Firuz Khilji in 1290 AD
- It was the second dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate.
- Alauddin Khilji (1296 – 1316 AD) expanded the empire into Gujarat, Rajasthan, and South India and defeated Mongol invasions multiple times.
- Alauddin Khalji assumed the title of Sikandar-e-Sani (Alexander the Great) and imprinted it on his coins.
- Most of the monuments during the Khalji dynasty were built in Arabic architecture.
- Amir Khusrau is the father of the new Persian poetry style ‘Sabak-e-Hind’, or Hindustani style.
- Amir Khusrau introduced the musical instrument ‘Tabla’.
