C. Rajagopalachari
- Chakravarti Rajagopalachari is popularly known as Rajaji.
- He was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC)
- He founded the Swatantra Party.
- Rajagopalachari was made Home Affairs Minister after the death of Sardar Patel in 1950.
- He wrote a Tamil translation of the Ramayana later it got the Sahitya Akademi Award in Tamil language in 1958.
- In 1954 he was conferred with the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to Indian politics and literature.
- Rajagopalachari was an important leader in the Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi.
