1. Exercise Antariksha Abhyas – 2024
- Defence Space Agency of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff successfully conducted the Space Table Top Exercise Antariksha Abhyas-2024 from 11 - 13 Nov 2024.
- It is aimed at bolstering the strategic readiness of the Indian Armed Forces in the domain of space warfare
- Key components of the exercise included focused discussions on emerging space technologies, space situational awareness and India’s space programmes.
- The discussions highlighted the importance of monitoring and protecting critical assets and maintaining situational awareness in the increasingly contested space environment.
2. Carbon Credits
- Carbon credits are a market-based instrument aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, primarily carbon dioxide (CO₂).
- One carbon credit is equivalent to the reduction of one metric ton of CO₂ or its equivalent in other greenhouse gases.
- Carbon credits provide financial incentives for businesses to reduce emissions and invest in cleaner technologies.
- Kyoto Protocol (1997): The Kyoto Protocol established the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), allowing industrialized countries to invest in emission-reducing projects in developing countries.
- This mechanism allowed for the generation of carbon credits that could be traded on international markets
