I. Indus Waters Treaty
- It was signed on September 19, 1960, between India and Pakistan
- It was brokered by the World Bank.
- The treaty sets out a mechanism for cooperation and information exchange between India and Pakistan
- The treaty is related to Indus River and its five tributaries Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, Jhelum, and Chenab.
- It allocated the three western rivers Indus, Chenab and Jhelum to Pakistan for unrestricted use
- The three Eastern rivers Ravi, Beas and Sutlej were allocated to India for unrestricted usage
II. NITI AAYOG
- It stands for National Institution for Transforming India Aayog
- Niti Aayog is a policy think tank of the Government of India
- It provides strategic and technical advice to the Central and State governments.
- The planning commission was constituted with the functions of framing the five-year plan and distribution of money to states and Ministries
- Replacing the Planning Commission on January 1, 2015, It was set up with the aim of fostering cooperative federalism and ensuring participative and equitable economic development
- NITI Aayog designs medium and long-term policies and programmes for India
- The Prime Minister of India serves as the NITI Aayog Chairman.
- B.V.R. Subrahmanyam is the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog
